AMOROS GRIMANESA
Biografia
Grimanesa Amorós è un artista interdisciplinare che lavora su diversi interessi nel campo sociale, nella ricerca scientifica, nella teoria critica , le quali influenzano molto il suo lavoro di artista visuale. Adotta diversi linguaggi espressivi come la scultura, il video, la luce e il suono per creare grandi installazioni sui concetti di identità e comunità.
E' nata a Lima in Perù, vive ed opera tra New York City e il Peru. Amorós ha studiato al The Art Students League (1984–1988) e alPrivate Ateliers a Lima, Peru (1981–1983).
Ha vinto numerosi Grant tra cui si includono: The National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship (Washington, DC), The Travel Grant Fund for Artists, NEA Arts International, (New York, NY), The Bronx Museum or the Arts: Aim Program (Bronx, NY) and The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation “Participant Biennial Competition” (New York NY).
Tra i premi e i riconoscimenti e le residenze artistiche si ricordano: X Tumi USA Award (Miami, FL) Art Omi (Columbia County, NY), Santa Fe Art Institute (Santa Fe, NM), The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (Amherst, VA), Artspace (Raleigh, NC) e Centrum Arts (Port Townsend, WA).
Inoltre, i suoi lavori sono stati selezionati da: The Art in Embassies Program of the U.S. Department of State in Ankara, Turkey (2001) e a Lima, Peru (2003). Amorós ha esposto negli Stati Uniti, in Europa e nell'America Latina.

Ha partecipato in numerosi Festivals e Fiere d'Arte di Video Arte come: LOOP Fair in Barcelona, Spain, e ha diretto seminari a: Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY) ArtSpace (Raleigh, NC) Sweet Briar College (Sweet Briar, VA), School of Arts “Corriente Alterna” (Lima, Peru), Colgate University (Hamilton, NY), e Spruill Center for the Arts (Atlanta GA). Amorós spesso insegna con workshop per adulti e ragazzi. I suoi lavori sono inclusi in prestigiose collezioni museali in tutto il mondo.
