[:it] Biografia Astolfo Funes nasce nel 1973 a Maracay in Venezuela, vive ed opera dal 2011 a Miami, US La pittura di Funes rappresenta la femminilità e le sue influenze artistiche provengono dalla letteratura e da artisti come Willem De Kooning, Oswaldo Vigas, ma anche dall'arte tedesca del dopoguerra per la forza e il dinamismo. Presente in molte case d'asta, le sue opere sono in collezioni private e pubbliche tra cui: Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Maracay, Venezuela; Solar East Hampton, New York; American Art Promotion, Parigi; Fondazione Nelson Sanchez Chapellin. Le produzioni di Funes, sono opere prettamente pittoriche (l'artista ha realizzato anche installazioni su PVC di grandi dimensioni), con proprietà di medie e grandi dimensioni risalenti alla parte più interessante del suo percorso artistico dal 2008 ad oggi. Tableau dai colori forti e caldi in cui il colore bianco è protagonista. La ricerca concettuale di Funes, è legata alla femminilità ma non solo a lei: l'attenzione al gesto, allo stato d'animo, all'occasione, diventano leitmotiv della sua personale interpretazione della bellezza, del piacere e del peccato, tra realtà e artificio. L'artista ci fa recitare il cliché della femminilità, costruita sui criteri del glamour e della moda con un linguaggio espressivo personale, affrontando direttamente i temi centrali della cultura contemporanea, l'identità, la varietà, il corpo e la sessualità, mescolando il glamour alla storia del pittura, mettendo in scena il rito dell'essere umano. L'intervento pittorico a volte a spatola, a volte impresso con le mani, diventa palcoscenico per un dramma senza evento, la plasticità quasi scultorea dei corpi incisi gioca e si alterna al vuoto che li circonda, in un gioco di pieni e vuoti, di corpo e anima, di fisicità apparentemente statica e irrefrenabile. Funes, dipinge ciò che vede, si concentra su più livelli di realtà, con l'intento di esporre verità e artificio e sottrarsi alla quotidianità, come in uno specchio, reale e immaginario, feste e angosce claustrofobiche. La temporalità, la spazialità, la mondanità, sono elementi attorno ai quali l'essere umano costruisce il proprio sé. Sono tappe che si percorrono nella conoscenza di sé, un viaggio spesso insolito e senza una meta precisa, che esula dalla logica razionale e cerca di modificare i concetti oi concetti di libertà, identità, salute, malattia, follia. Ha esposto a livello internazionale e con Primo Piano in diverse mostre personali in Italia e Medio Oriente. CV completo su richiesta [:en] Biography Astolfo Funes was born in 1973 in Maracay in Venezuela, has lived and worked since 2011 in Miami, US Funes's painting represents femininity and his artistic influences come from literature and artists such as Willem De Kooning, Oswaldo Vigas, but also from post-war German art for strength and dynamism. Present in many auction houses, his works are in private and public collections including: Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Maracay, Venezuela; Solar East Hampton, New York; American Art Promotion, Paris; Nelson Sanchez Chapellin Foundation. Funes's productions are purely pictorial works (the artist has also created large-sized installations on PVC), with medium and large-sized properties dating back to the most interesting part of his artistic career from 2008 to today. Tableau with strong and warm colors in which the white color is the protagonist. Funes' conceptual research is linked to femininity but not only to her: attention to the gesture, the mood, the occasion, become the leitmotif of her personal interpretation of beauty, pleasure and sin, between reality and artifice. The artist makes us recite the cliché of femininity, built on the criteria of glamor and fashion with a personal expressive language, directly addressing the central themes of contemporary culture, identity, variety, body and sexuality, mixing glamor to the history of painting, staging the rite of the human being. The pictorial intervention sometimes with a spatula, sometimes imprinted with the hands, becomes the stage for a drama without event, the almost sculptural plasticity of the engraved bodies plays and alternates with the void that surrounds them, in a game of full and empty, of body and soul, of apparently static and unstoppable physicality. Funes paints what he sees, concentrates on multiple levels of reality, with the intent of exposing truth and artifice and escaping everyday life, as in a mirror, real and imaginary, claustrophobic parties and anxieties. The temporality, the spatiality, the worldliness, are elements around which the human being builds his own self. These are stages that are followed in self-knowledge, an often unusual journey without a precise destination, which goes beyond rational logic and tries to modify the concepts or concepts of freedom, identity, health, disease, madness. He has exhibited internationally and with Primo Piano in several solo shows in Italy and the Middle East.
