She was born in Mexico City in 1958 where she lives and works. She received the distinction of Artistic Creator from the National System of Art Creators of the Ministry of Culture, in the category of painting, in 2016. Master in Management of Educational Centers of the Universidad Anáhuac. Degree in Communication with specialization in Cinema at the Universidad Iberoamericana. She has more than 125 exhibitions in museums and galleries in Mexico, United States, Bulgaria, Poland, Japan, Philippines, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Venezuela, Cuba, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. She has several awards and honors both nationally and internationally, as well as studies on handmade paper in Japan and Costa Rica.
The influences in her artistic work are based on expressionist and conceptual aspects. Her trajectory and her experience in painting, in handmade paper, in engraving and in the art of objects, allow her to experiment with mixed techniques that demonstrate her feeling around the subjects he covers. Olabuenaga’s work always revolves around four fundamental themes, which interconnected, speak of her point of view on the world she lives: childhood, loneliness, death and the inner world, vectors that define his materials, composition and aesthetics.
