Description
With “Autobiographical: I am what I eat”, the environmental installation by Apulian artist Dores Sacquegna composed of twenty images on canvas centered on food consumed in Salento already at the time of Magna Grecia, accompanied by local proverbs. Completes the ceremonial room, a table laid with fruits and herbs, a notebook and some autobiographical texts by author. The work takes its inspiration from the book by Philippe Claudel: “Perfumes. Sentimental odor inventory of a lifetime “and it is a trip down memory lane, the smells of a lifetime, in connection with her land and at the same time with the world. Pictures and narrative, there are next to each other, in a dictionary of beneficial properties arising from consuming food and emotional states of mind and autobiographical writings by the artist. Food that lends itself to a visual, olfactory, auditory, tactile and tasty communication, and inviting guests (visitors) to partake of their history, to live their own gourmet traveller’s experience. The work is a clear reference to consumerism and waste. Photographic installation for sale only.
